Our Story

Since 2012, Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue has been saving lives and changing futures. As a non-profit rescue based in Palm Beach County, Florida, we’ve helped over 15,000 animals—giving cats and dogs the second chance they deserve through compassionate rescue, loving foster care, and responsible adoptions.

Our mission is to reduce the number of homeless dogs and cats who fall victim to shelter euthanasia by promoting adoption, spay/neuter, and the humane treatment of animals.

We work tirelessly to save pregnant and nursing animals, orphaned puppies and kittens, and any unwanted animal—whether sick or healthy. If there is an available foster home and sufficient funds, we ensure every rescued animal has the chance at a forever home.

Each animal in our care is placed in either a loving foster home or our rescue, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested, and given any necessary medical treatment.

Through our nonprofit veterinary hospital, we also provide affordable care to animals in our community, helping pet owners keep their companions healthy and loved.

Whether you’re looking to adopt, foster, volunteer, or donate, you’re in the right place. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every animal deserves a safe, loving home—and every person deserves the joy of a loyal companion.

Help Us Save More Lives

Program Overview

Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue is committed to engaging students in meaningful community service while supporting our mission to save homeless pets. Through our At-Home Service Program, students complete approved volunteer/community service activities from home and earn verified community service hours.

Shelter Stars Society Membership Requirement

To participate, students must be active members of the Shelter Stars Society, our official student membership program.

  • Annual Membership Fee: $250

  • Open Enrollment Period: October 1, 2025 – November 30, 2025

  • Membership ensures all participants are officially part of the rescue community.

  • Membership contributions help cover program administration, verification of hours, supplies, and animal care.

  • Hours are awarded only for completed activities, not for the membership fee itself.

How the Program Works

  1. Register & Membership

    • Students (or their sponsors/guardians) enroll in the Shelter Stars Society during the open enrollment period by purchasing the $250 membership.

    • Membership is valid for one year.

  2. Receive Activity Packet

    • Members are provided with a list of approved at-home volunteer projects and their corresponding time values.

Examples include:

  1. Make 5 no-sew dog toys (5 hours)

  2. Make 5 no sew fleece blankets ( 8 hours)

  3. Make 2 para cord King Cobra Leashes (10 hours)

  5. Collect 10 blankets or towels for donation (3 hour)

  6. Collect 30 newspapers (5 hours)

  7. Take a dog for 1 Doggy-Day-Date (15 hrs)

  8. Complete Activities

    • Students perform projects at home and deliver to rescue if required

    • Students have until the end of the current school year to complete all volunteer tasks. Students can complete multiple tasks to earn more hours.

  9. Submit & Verification

    • Students submit proof of completion by delivering items to the rescue or proof of social media posts

    • Once verified, Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue signs off on school or organizational service-hour forms.

Guidelines

  • Membership fee of $250 per year is required for enrollment in the Shelter Stars Society.

  • Hours are earned only through completed, documented volunteer work.

FAQs

If you have a professional advisor like a financial planner, a lawyer, accountant or insurance agent, please talk with them about leaving a gift.

Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue has several restricted funds for special programs, including; Heartworm Positive Program, Volunteer Training Fund, Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Program, as well as the General Spay and Neuter Program. Call (561) 795-9999 for more details.

Yes, a gift in memory is a wonderful way to recognize someone who has made a difference in your life. Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue encourages memorial gifts. This kind of a gift can also be arranged for in your will. You just need to make it clear that the gift is given in memory of a particular person or for a specific use.

Yes, you do. A charitable bequest will not take effect unless you state your intention in your will or living trust. Without a will you have no influence over your belongings after your death.

Anyone can leave a gift. “Estate” is simply a word used to describe any money, property or personal belongings that you own at the time of your death. Most people leave an estate when they die, even though they may not have had a great deal of wealth.

It’s easy. The most common way to leave a gift is through a charitable gift in a will or a living trust. Many people set aside a certain dollar amount. Others leave a percentage of their estate or any assets left over after their family has been provided for. Some people choose to donate cash, securities, real or personal property. Others leave life insurance policies, or funds from a retirement account or other financial asset.
