Rockie (now "Saki") is an absolute love! He is house broken, loves his walks on a leash and won't leave anyone in the family. He does not like being alone and is happiest when cuddling next to his owners. We are thrilled with him. Our vet gave him a clean bill of health! Thanks so much for rescuing him for us! merry renert

Rocky
Rocky

My Miki (pronounced Micky), who was with me for approximately 11 years, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge last April: it turns out that he was five years older than the vet had initially thought when I took him in, and my baby passed of a sudden heart attack. This was too much for me, not only was my heart broken... my heart was completely shut off. Extremely grieving over Miki, and with other things going on in my life, I had no intention of taking in another doggie at this particular time... I just couldn't go through that again, and Miki was irreplaceable. Then one day I had just started to 'look' at doggies that needed to be rescued, and of course all the doggies were adorable, but one particular dog kept grabbing my attention, and his name was Rocky and he was half Lhasa Apso, just like Miki, his name was similar to Miki's, and it was written in his little story that he had a biting problem... just like Miki. I just could not get Rocky out of my mind, so I wrote into Justin Bartlett to inquire about his situation and to see how he was doing, yet I got a response that I had the wrong ID number. I wrote in again with the same ID number, and got the same response. I wrote in another time, noticing there were two different ID numbers, and almost immediately I was taken by surprise, by getting a call from his foster mother: she completely caught me off guard. About a week later I did not see Rocky's photo anymore, so I wrote in again to inquire about him, and I got text messages from yet another woman, and on the one hand she was telling me that three people had been approved already, so I said to her that just as long as he had a loving home and whoever got him was alright with being bitten, that I was happy for him and I was just checking on him. She then proceeded to tell me that she never received an application from me, and I told her I didn't know that I was supposed to send one: mind you, my heart was still not ready to adopt another dog, I was just checking on him, but late at night I filled out the application and I was almost to the end of it when the whole thing disappeared. So the next night, I started all over and filled out the application again... and within a few hours I received a phone call from yet another woman, she was an adoption specialist, and she had already called my veterinarian's office and told me they said wonderful things about me and that I was able to handle a dog that bit. Long story short, I went from having no intention of adopting a dog to becoming fully invested in Rocky... I loved this little guy before I even met him! There were phone calls, emails, text messages... and the next thing I know, there was to be a meet-and-greet between Rocky and myself. I recognized Rocky immediately as he was being walked into the Petco by his foster mother, who, by the way is an angel... it's hard to believe that Rocky walked by me and didn't even know me, and a few hours later we were inseparable. A couple of people that I know even said to me that he was just waiting to meet me... I truly believe that I was in my little space in the universe, sad and mourning my doggie that passed... and Rocky was in his little space in the universe with his foster mommy waiting for a forever home... and with all the mishaps with my getting the ID number wrong, the application that I didn't know I was supposed to fill out and then disappearing and other people being approved first: that we were meant to find each other! I cannot imagine my life without him: I don't see it that I rescued him, this little fella rescued me! He makes me smile and giggle and fills my heart: I was told that I could not lift him... he let me lift him immediately, I was told not to look in his eyes... how could I NOT look in those big, adorable eyes?! He follows me every step I take... he sleeps right by me in my bed: even my brother said it's like Rocky and I were separated at birth and finally reunited! I am very impressed with Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue: the extent they go to to investigate and make sure that doggie and human are a perfect match, and, like I said, his foster mommy is an angel, and everybody at Justin Bartlett are angels as well... I cannot thank you guys enough! I'm going to send another email now with photos and I thank you guys from the bottom of my heart!🐾
