Contessa would like to be with you and love you, all the time. Can’t say she has mastered why ”personal space“ means yet! But really, she most likely has a fear of being abandoned again. She was abandoned while pregnant and came to us, where she had to have an emergency C Section. Several puppies didn’t make it. We thought we found her a great home, and after a long time, they brought her back, because she required more of their attention than they were willing to give.
Contessa is housebroken and gets along with Dogs and Cats in any home that she’s in.
Contessa isn’t going to be your best candidate if you’re looking for a dog to bring out in public to socialize with other people and Dogs. She doesn’t do well with new Dogs, while she’s leashed, in public places, she does a lot of barking at them. Also, when out in public, people will just need to give her time to warm up, she will not embrace strangers, off the street like some dogs do. But once she’s comfortable with them, then she is the sweetest. At home, she’s perfect with everyone, all the time. She didn’t even need much time to adjust when enetering her new foster home, consisting of a dad, Dogs and Cats!
