Missi

Hi Kathy! Missi is doing great, and we love her so much! We did change her name to Mya. As she is named after what I like to call her “spirit dog” Amy, my 13 year old cattle dog that passed away in November. The resemblance to each other is quite remarkable, and I can only imagine that Amy would have looked very much like Mya as a puppy. I adopted Amy at 2 years of age. Mya is celebrating her 4-month birthday today! My partner and I took time off from work to bond with her and get her used to our daily routine. She loves to play with Otis, our 9 year old mixed breed in the back yard. They have a great time chasing one another and playing in the plastic pool we put out for them. She and Otis are becoming fast friends, and having a companion for Otis has brightened his life. We are very careful to supervise them and provide equal amounts of love, food and attention so that we don’t create a situation, where one becomes jealous. Regularly Mya takes walks and is doing pretty well on a lead. Our house has a lot of activity, so she is meeting new people, children, and being introduced to new experiences every day! She has met the vacuum cleaner, likes ice cubes, and enjoys chasing balls and the Frisbee. She will happily run to her crate for a treat, and enjoyed her first bath in the warm sun! She is sleeping through the night, and has started going to the porch door when she needs to go potty. Leandra, our 8 year old daughter is a big part of Mya’s life too. She helps out with the daily routine of feeding and making sure she gets plenty of exercise before leaving for school. Mya and Otis wake Leandra up for school every morning with wet doggie kisses! We introduced Miss Mya to our veterinarian (Dr. G) last week. She had her nails trimmed and another booster shot. She is now on heart worm prevention and scheduled to get her rabies shot on May 6th. Dr. G thinks she will be 45-50 pounds full grown, but I tend to think she may be a bit smaller.. I’ll keep you posted! I have attached a couple pictures of Mya in our backyard, just being Mya! Did I mention she loves playing in the dirt? We have several “dens” that Amy made and she has discovered them all! We are so blessed to have been selected to be the adoptive family for such a wonderful little girl. I have told so many friends and co-workers about the amazing job you all do and the story of Justin Bartlett. I promise to send more pictures and update you on Miss Mya’s progress and development on a regular basis. Thank you again for everything you are doing for our four legged family members! Warmest regards, Marilyn and Jae, and Leandra
